Australian Sahaja Primary School Update – 5th March 2021

School Name & Board • Planning • Finances

Dear Family,

Jai Shri Mataji!

By Mother’s Grace, much positive progress has been made towards our vision for a Sahaja primary school in the land of Shri Ganesha. All the latest news and progress is outlined below for your enlightened attention

School Name

After reviewing the Collective survey results and checking the vibrations, the new school name was selected.

With great pleasure, I advise the new name is:

HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi School

Shri Mataji was very pleased in the past when our primary school was openly a Sahaja school and as such it is felt this is a very appropriate name and also what the vibrations indicated was pleasing to Shri Mataji.

A logo is also being worked and the current concept is for Shri Mataji cradling Shri Ganesha.

A school motto of Sat Chit Anand is proposed and this also has a nice tie into ISPS which has the same names for the School Houses.

The combination of these three elements will be filled with auspiciousness and vibrations.

School Board

Candidates from each state with relevant skills and background were checked on vibrations for the new School Board.

With great pleasure I advise the new School Board is:

  • Joe Salomon (WA)
  • Colin Berry (Vic)
  • Debbie Miller (Qld)
  • Daniel Firth (NSW)
  • Sue Nickson (SA)
  • Kanak Nicolai (ACT)

As this is a national project which will require national support, we felt a representative from each state would be a great way to form the first School Board.

These lovely dedicated yogis have started regular board meetings to work together and carry the vision for our new school forward.

At Easter Puja time, the School Board will provide a presentation to the Collective sharing their vision, mission and aspirations for bringing this auspicious project to life.

The Board will release regular and ongoing communications on all aspects of the project to keep the Collective fully informed.

School Application and Land Planning

Following the recent parent survey, we received enough expressions of interest from parents to continue moving forward with the school project.

We have engaged an external provider of school policies to help us put together our school application, which requires a complete and compliant set of policies and procedures to be submitted to the relevant Government authority. This is an enormous task and was beyond our internal capabilities to take on. These service providers have hundreds of independent schools they provide this service to and all the schools they have assisted to submit applications have been successful.

Our dedicated group of teachers in the Teachers Working Group has also worked diligently and prepared a fully compliant school curriculum to be submitted with our application.

Due to the size and scope of the school application project and the associated compliance requirements that are tied into the timing of the land planning permissions, we have decided to defer our school application submission to March 2022. This does not however change our target school opening date of January 2023.

The work on the land planning permissions is continuing with the engagement of general and specialist planning consultants to prepare the initial reports required by the local council.

Finances

Our new non-profit company required to operate the school will be formed within the next month and our new Board members will be formally appointed as Directors of that company.

At that time, the financial aspects of the project will be once again reviewed and refined and a fund-raising campaign will be commenced, with full transparency on funds required and the purposes they will be put toward.

Preliminary discussions have commenced around building designs and we are engaging with yogis with relevant skills to help us in coming to a design which is cost-effective and will give us the best chance of successfully raising the necessary funds.

With Love
Brett
